I pondered whether to put this machine here or add a new listing. At a camping resort in which we stayed there was a fitness room. Although the 9100 Treadmill by LifeFitness is an older model it is still for sale thus the review. You will only be able to buy this machine remanufactured unless you happen upon it on eBay. So here it is!
The Machine:
Note: The HR is really a misnomer. There is a heart rate (HR) option but it is not standard with this machine.
The 9100 is a huge machine. It is what epinions calls a space hog. It will not fit into a nice little corner of your living room. It needs a space of its own. It weighs around 370 pounds. Its dimensions are 88 inches long by 36 inches wide by 65 inches high.
Life Fitness in general gives very good warranties on their machines. However as a remanufactured machine I found it online for about $2400 with a warranty of 6 months for the parts and labor with one year on the motor. The frame is under warranty for the lifetime of the machine by LifeFitness but you should check on that when you buy one that isn’t new.
The belt is wide and long. The rule of thumb is that a good belt should be more than 17 inches wide and 50 inches long. This belt was 18 inches by 58 inches. That was a very long belt! What happens is that if a belt is short your toes will hit the front of the machine. Even someone very tall will have no problem on the 9100’s belt. The maximum user weight is 350 pounds.
The Deck:
The 9100 has a Flex Deck Shock Absorption System. This is supposed to reduce shock and impact to the knees, back, and joints by nearly 30% compared to other treadmills. found that the deck was comfortable on my feet. I could walk and even power walk for long periods without feeling pain on the bottom of my feet or in my ankle areas.
The machine was a little noisy but I’m attributing that to all the use it gets. Still it was definitely in the acceptable range.
The Design:
The 9100 has longer handle bars than new machines which I like. If you like to power walk the longer side handles come in handy. You’ll also find a middle handle on which to put your hands.
The console, like the machine is huge. I found two integrated holders for water bottles, cell phones, keys, etc.
The Features:
The 9100 has six workout profiles (random, hills, cardio for example). The console showed me the distance I had gone, the time I was going to walk, my calories used, my incline level and my speed. Six is not a lot of profiles (or programs) but it’s adequate.
When I got on the machine and was ready to use it I hit quick start. Then I was asked on the console to pick a program. I didn’t have to. I could use this manually with the up and down arrows but on one occasion (and for an example) I chose hill. An LCD graph displayed what my hill workout would look like.
After I picked hill I hit enter. I was then asked my weight. Using the up or down arrows I changed that number and hit enter. I was then asked to put in how much time I wanted to spend on the machine and again used the up arrows to do so and I hit enter. Next I was asked what incline level I wanted. I could choose from 1 to 20. I picked 2 and hit enter. Next came what speed I wanted and could choose from .5 to 10 miles per hour. I put in 4 and hit enter. I was now ready to work out.

Please check with your doctor before starting an exercise program.
I liked this machine and if I had room I would certainly consider it. It doesn’t have the number of programs that you might want if you have been using a cardio machine at home or at a gym that has lots of programs. It also doesn’t have a built in heart rate sensor or a fan which some less expensive machines have. This is partly indicative of LifeFitness machines (no fan) and partly due to age (no heart rate sensors).
I’m giving this 4 stars though I’d like to rate it 3.5. I’m rounding it up because of the brand.
