I’ve have been hearing some positive things about Smooth Fitness and their products through reading reviews and such. I also have a really good friend who purchased a home gym from Smooth Fitness. This friend was extremely pleased with the quality of that home gym. So, when I was ready to buy a treadmill for my home, I decided to investigate those offered by Smooth Fitness. As I navigated the Smooth web site, I noticed mention of some other treadmills by EVO. The next thing I knew, I was checking out the EVO Fitness web site, and that’s where I discovered their new FX2-M.
I paid $1,299.00 for my FX2-M treadmill by EVO, which included shipping. To some of you, that amount may sound like quite a lot! But, if you think about it, you DO get what you pay for! It was easy to see why the cheaper treadmills I looked at cost as little as they did! They looked cheap and the warranty was lacking! At a glance, I could tell they were of inferior quality! I didn’t even have to get on one to see that! And, yet, I DID try out a few of them. None of them were all that stable for running. A couple of them even seemed to shake and wobble all over the place when in use. I’m sure, if you want a treadmill to use infrequently for just walking, one of these cheap models would be sufficient. And, it would probably last for a couple of years. However, I planned to put my treadmill to good use…running hard on it at least 5 to 6 days per week. So, I really wanted a good, quality treadmill that would last as long as possible; and, I was willing to pay the cost to get such a treadmill.
The EVO FX2-M treadmill has a unique feature that helped sell me on this particular model. That feature is its motion control. The user doesn’t have to fumble with controls to adjust the speed of the treadmill during a workout or to stop the treadmill. With a simple wave of a hand over one of the side rails, the speed can be either increased or decreased. And, if you hold both hands over the side rails simultaneously, the treadmill will stop. I can continue running without missing a beat when I want to change the intensity of my workout, with this feature.
The FX2-M is also a folding treadmill. It folds manually. But, because the manual fold is shock-assisted, it isn’t difficult to fold. And, there are four casters for ease in moving the treadmill from one place to another.
It also has heart rate control, which I have been experimenting with. Your pre-set heart rate will determine the exertion level of your workout. I’m not sure if I prefer adjusting manually or letting the heart rate control take over.
Other features of the FX2-M treadmill include its handrail grip pulse monitor, a decent-sized running surface (18″ X 53″), a 5-window LED display, 3 pre-set programs with 12 intensity levels each, 9 user programs, and 8 user data memory profiles. The parts used in this treadmill are high quality, and, as a result, the treadmill runs very quietly and has a solid and stable feel to it. The FX2-M is backed by some really great warranties, 10 year on the motor.
A couple more things I should mention are that there IS some assembly required…but, it’s not too difficult, and if you want to have the unit carried indoors upon delivery, you’ll have to pay a little extra!
I believe I made a decent buy, and I think it is built well enough to last for many years to come…even with all the use I put it through!
